More and more couples these days seem to be rebelling against the traditional style weddings and are more in favor of a bucket list worthy experience with their soul mate and life partner.
Humboldt County California is a destination location for many, known for un-crowded State Parks, giant redwood trees, panoramic ocean views and for the unforgettable life changing experiences people have when they visit here. I have photographed many weddings within Humboldt County, but there is one area that has some of the most intimate and magical places for elopements you could ever dream of…

Humboldt Redwoods State Park…
Humboldt Redwoods State Park is the largest of California’s redwood parks, made up of some of the tallest redwood trees, intimate groves, thick patches of redwood sorrel, luscious ferns and bushes that align walking trails throughout the park. In some areas you will find footbridges with creeks flowing beneath them along with trees that have openings in them, perfect for capturing intimate moments. Rays of sunshine filter through the trees, creating a soft illuminating glow. There’s an abundance of soft and elegant moments that can be captured within the space of this redwood forest and the images created are absolutely breathtaking.
The Benbow Historic Inn…
The Benbow Historic Inn is a stunning indoor/outdoor venue for an elopement. The atmosphere and vibe here is romantic, elegant, tasteful, classy and intimate. The landscape that surrounds the Inn is luscious and colorful, complimentary to the amazing historical building itself! Whether you choose to elope on the expansive Terrace up top, down below on the edge of the soft grassy lawn, or hand in hand standing on the historic bridge, there is a variety of options to choose from here. All of which, produce some of the most enchanting photographs!
Shelter Cove…
Shelter Cove is a remote and more isolated area, surrounded by rugged mountains and breathtaking panoramic ocean views. Made up of a quiet coastal community this rural area has the perfect pristine beaches for an intimate elopement. Shelter Cove is the perfect location for a romantic escape, and will leave you with an adventure you will never forget.
